The Capitalist’s Discourse for Academics

The capitalist’s discourse – that “fifth” discourse of Lacan’s – succumbs to the agency of the second discourse (university discourse) when it becomes, as it has, the excluded discourse about which so many Lacanians are charged with ignoring. University discourse wants nothing more than to remind you about that excluded bit of knowledge which must at all costs be integrated into the metonymic displacements of novel academic obsession.
